Ways I support Neurodivergent People
Neurodiversity-affirming naturopathic care
Are you looking for supportive, respectful care for yourself or someone you love who is neurodivergent — autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, dyslexic, OCD, or is simply wired a little differently? You’re not alone.
I’m often tagged in conversations by individuals and families searching for naturopathic support that actually gets it. So I wanted to share a little about how I work.
I’m a naturopath/nutritionist with ADHD, married to an AuDHD partner, step-mum to an AuDHD/ODD child, and sibling/aunty to neurodivergent children/young adults. That means my approach is both clinically informed and lived. I don’t believe neurodivergence needs to be treated, fixed, or cured — it’s a natural and valuable part of human variation.
My role is to support your health in ways that honour your nervous system, your preferences, and your lived experience — while celebrating strengths and gently supporting areas that feel hard right now.
What can support look like?
Support looks different for everyone.
Sometimes it’s as practical as building systems to support hydration (because remembering to drink can be genuinely difficult), or working around food preferences, appetite changes, medication effects, or sensory sensitivities related to taste and texture.
Digestive concerns are very common, including IBS, constipation, loose stools, bloating, reflux, or nausea. I also regularly support people with:
ARFID and highly restricted eating
Focus, overwhelm, stress and anxiety
Low mood or burnout
Sleep difficulties
Hormonal concerns, including PMS and PMDD
Energy regulation and nervous system support
We focus on what’s impacting day-to-day life — not on trying to make you “fit” a neurotypical mould.
What does a consultation look like?
Appointments are available online, or can be arranged in person in Glenroy/Brunswick by request/availability.
Initial consultations run for 60 minutes, giving us plenty of time to explore your health history, review any relevant pathology, and most importantly, talk through what you want support with.
If you’re attending on behalf of a child or someone you care for, you’re welcome to share sensitive information in advance via email or intake forms — whether that’s around eating, behaviour, emotions, or health history. My priority is always to create a safe, respectful space and to build rapport. There’s no judgement, no shame, and no pressure — just collaborative, compassionate care.
Realistic, individualised plans
Most people already know what they’d like to be doing — eating more regularly, adding fruit and vegetables, sleeping earlier, moving their bodies more, or feeling less overwhelmed.
The real work is understanding why those things aren’t easy right now, and finding strategies that actually fit your life, capacity, and nervous system.
We break things down into small, achievable steps. If supplements are appropriate, I use a variety of different products available to honour you/your child’s sensory preferences and nutritional needs.
Testing, without the overwhelm
Additional testing is sometimes helpful, but it’s not required for most people. We’ll talk through whether it’s relevant for your situation. Often, existing blood work already gives us plenty of useful information, keeping things simple, cost-conscious, and evidence-informed. If blood tests aren’t accessible due to fear of needles, we can use a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA), alongside other investigations deepening on what you need (microbiome testing, etc).
